The story of Auf Wiedersehen Pet. Tim Healy, Kevin Whately, Jimmy Nail, Timothy Spall and Christopher Fairbank plus creator Franc Roddam, director Roger Bamford and award winning script-writers Dick Clement and Ian la Frenais recount how a tale of Geordie Brickies working in Germany took the TV world by storm. When the show first hit our screens in 1983 it was a slow burner, the principal characters were played by virtual unknowns. The TV company weren't confident, some wanted to transmit it late at night, others wanted it dropped altogether. Gradually the show picked up viewers and after four or five episodes the British public realised what a gem was being offered to them, viewing figures rocketed and Dennis, Neville, Oz, Barry, Moxey, Wayne and Bomber became the UK's favourite builders.
