Lawman: Con artists Frank Farnum and Melanie Wells have set their sights on one of the richest men in Laramie, Ollie Earnshaw. The scheme is that Melanie gets rich men to propose to her, Frank takes their money, and then they move to the next town. Johnny brings Dan a telegram from the sheriff in Casper that alerts him as to who they are. Dan confronts Frank, who threatens to kill him if he stands in their way. What Frank doesn't expect is that time Melanie really does fall in love with Ollie.
