Matt, Ellie and Steve are in Nottinghamshire where Matt reports on the plight of the original Bramley apple tree. He joins the scientists working to preserve as much genetic material from it in an effort to unlock the secrets of its long life. There's a double hit of wildlife from Ellie as she goes on a night time hunt for one of Britain's rarest bats - the barbastelle. It's appearance this far north is creating a stir amongst conservationists. Then she joins the husband and wife team behind one of the country's most successful barn owl projects, and gets up close to their latest clutch of chicks. Steve heads for the woods to see how nature is helping some of the county's most vulnerable people.
